About the Museum: Located in the historic home of Russian born artist Nicolai Fechin, the Taos Art Museum's permanent collection includes over 300 works of art by more that 50 Taos artists. Paintings by the founders of the Taos Society of Artists: Joseph H. Sharp, Bert G. Phillips, Ernest L. Blumenschein, Oscar E. Berninghaus, E.I. Couse and W. Herbert Dunton are exhibited, together with the active and associate members. Works of art by Nicolai Fechin and the Taos Moderns are also featured.

The Fechin home and studio are filled with his hand carved doors, windows and furniture. Fechin was a master of painting, sculpture, woodcarving and architectural design. The home he designed and reconstructed is on the National Register of Historic Places. The Taos Art Museum is just two blocks north of the famous Taos Plaza, in front of the Fechin Inn.

About the Museum Shop: Taos Art Museum Gift Shop offers books about the lives and work of the Taos Society of Artists, the Taos Modernists, and Nicolai Fechin. Quality art reproductions of Fechin's paintings are available. Handcrafted Russian items include fine art lacquer boxes, carved Santa and angel figures, embroidered fabrics, icons and nesting Matryoshka dolls. Work by local and New Mexico artists fill the gift shop with hand made jewelry, carved Santos, micaceous clay pottery, Navajo weavings, wood toys, fabrics and folk art.

Tickets are sent within two business days via first class mail. If you plan to use your MAT tickets within the next two weeks, we recommend purchasing them in person at any of the participating museums.
